Bestijalni likovni teatar Ilije Vukovića koji je ipak nešto drugo
Ove slike nešto su posebno. Posebna je i čudnovata i činjenica da ih je Ilija naslikao u periodu od svoje osamnaeste do dvadesete godine, i dokaz je da smo samo instrumenti u rukama nečeg većeg što kroz nas peva, piše, slika. Jer ove slike su slike koje odišu drevnim iskustvom. I u svom sadržaju i u svom stilu. Mogli bismo ih okarakterisati kao feminističke ili kao ekspresionističke ali one prevazilaze takvu vrstu određenja. Prosto su zapanjujuće. Tako sadržajne. Tako intenzivne. Neke od njih nezaboravne. Bestijalne a ipak pitome. Razvratne a ipak smerne. Preterane a ipak odmerene. Uvredljive i bezobzirne a blagotvorne, toksične a lekovite. Bezmerno nasilne a tako ljupke i mile. Perverzne ali zdrave i normalne.
Potpuno oslobođene i slobodne a ipak prisutne. Previše lične ali svačije.
Odvratne a pitke. Nepotrebne ili suvišne ali neophodne. Odbojne a neposredne. A pre svega, i to je ono što u meni budi zahvalnost dok ih posmatram, i više od zahvalnosti - veru u smisao, neizmerno pune bola, a ipak, pre svega duhovite. Zato su mudre. I pune razumevanja i ljubavi. I neobične. I neobično je da ih je naslikao jedan dečak.

Ilija Vuković's Bestial Visual Theater That Is Still Something Else
These paintings are something special. The fact that Ilija painted them between his eighteenth and twentieth year is both special and strange, and proof that we are merely instruments in the hands of something greater that sings, writes, and paints through us. For these paintings breathe with ancient experience, both in their content and style. We could characterize them as feminist or expressionist, but they transcend such classifications. They are simply stunning. So rich in content. So intense. Some of them unforgettable. Bestial yet tame. Depraved yet humble. Excessive yet measured. Offensive and ruthless yet beneficial, toxic yet healing. Infinitely violent yet so sweet and gentle. Perverse yet healthy and normal.
Completely liberated and free yet still present. Too personal yet everyone's.
Repulsive yet drinkable. Unnecessary or superfluous yet indispensable. Repellent yet immediate. And above all, and this is what awakens gratitude in me as I observe them, and more than gratitude - faith in meaning, immeasurably full of pain, yet above all witty. That's why they are wise. Full of understanding and love. And unusual. And it's unusual that they were painted by a boy.
